If for the sculptor Erik Dietman – whom he befriended in the early 1960s – “in the world there are words that are insufficient [and I] help them in my own way by making objects for them”, Topor uses drawing as "fast writing". At home, the faceless body of an anonymous person in a suit can easily become a landscape where a fly ventures and the cranial box a basin in which to indulge in the joys of fishing. One of the children of Magritte's impossible image, Topor perverts its transparency and mixes in Sade, scatology and gore...
