Working in : Casablanca, Lille
Artist's gallery
He is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and of the Institut des Hautes Etudes en Arts Plastiques. Since 1993, his work has developed under the generic title: "Bricoler l'incurable, details". Each project is a fragment of a whole in the making. The snippets of words, images, actions, objects, texts organize the work as so many pieces of the everyday. From details to details, the projects are elaborated progressively as if waiting to be gathered. He elaborates a reservoir of forms and stories: a toolbox that allows him to lay the skeleton of his exhibitions. Each detail, in a programmed permutation, serves to build something else. The exhibition space becomes each time, a place of work. The artist is aware that one cannot have a global and unitary apprehension of things. "Tinkering with the incurable" is not therefore for the artist a disengagement. According to him, to declare an incurable crime is to refuse to think the world as a "lost paradise". There is not "pure origin" fallen in the decadence but a founding misunderstanding.
