Château du Rivau is one of the oldest of the Loire Valley's great châteaux, situated as it is near Chinon, the home of Charles VII, King of France. Built in the 15th century on the foundations of a 13th-century fortified house, it is part fortress, part pleasure residence, and has the look and feel of a fairytale castle.
Château du Rivau comprises a medieval fortified castle with an impressive keep, royal Renaissance stables, a tithe barn and a wine press. Château du Rivau also boasts outstanding gardens and contemporary art exhibitions.
