The Fondation pour l'art contemporain Salomon (or Fondation pour l'art contemporain Claudine et Jean-Marc Salomon) was created in June 2001 by Claudine and Jean-Marc Salomon, in the Château d'Arenthon in Alex near Annecy in Haute-Savoie.
Collectors for several years, Claudine and Jean-Marc Salomon decided to commit themselves further to contemporary creation by opening "a space dedicated to its presentation and dissemination", a space intended to offer keys to the reading and understanding of works to a non-specialist and curious public. This mission of dissemination and mediation of contemporary art is carried out through the implementation of an educational, cultural and editorial policy: accompanying visits, round tables, meetings with artists, publication of catalogues.
