Jorge Camacho – Torgia – Alain Gruger. Les Liaisons surréalistes
The exhibition
Jorge Camacho's work is well known, notably for his participation in Surrealism - as will be demonstrated by his inclusion in an exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in autumn 2024, to mark the centenary of the Manifesto written by André Breton, which marked the birth of the movement.
Those of Torgia and Alain Gruger are much less so, concealed from view by their respective wills, which have fortunately wavered recently. In 1959, Torgia met the young Cuban who had just arrived in Paris, never to leave him again; Gruger formed a duo with him, destined to devote themselves to the nocturnal art of alchemical research, the imprint of which can be seen throughout Camacho's pictorial and graphic developments.
