The exhibition

Benjamin Hochart's work raises the question of referentiality, and it is in this light that the Pulp-e exhibition takes us on a journey through his works. Through a variety of media, visitors are confronted with the plasticity of evocations, the master concept here being that of pareidolia. Whether in the evocations of faces traced in gesso like graffiti in the works running along the central hall, or those in the Président-e series, the representations shown by the artist question the imaginaries to which they are linked. The crossover between popular forms and "high art" allows the artist to blur the lines, as in the large patchwork costumes, central elements of the exhibition, recalling the artist's origins in northern France and the popular tradition of carnival giants. Benjamin Hochart seizes on this element and jumps at the opportunity to make a series of films that bring these fabric sculptures to life, drawing on the codes of genre films and animal reportage. Through these works and their correspondence, the Pulp-e exhibition invites us into the world of a mischievous artist who likes to play with our references, placing them in a new light.
