Along with a few painters of her generation - Xinyi Cheng, Nathanaëlle Herbelin, Elené Shatberashvili... - Christine Safa seems far from being one of those who think that their art should turn its back on feelings. On the contrary, the people and places she paints may well be only those she has embraced. And if, for the artist born in 1994, "each painting is a declaration of a given moment, suspended, a moment of quietude", the part of emotion that guides her to her subjects could also be this "remainder" that she paints, deposited in light veils and mingling when "the cypresses become bodies, the bodies of the mountains, lines of horizon". For her first solo exhibition at Galerie Lelong, Christine Safa shows a group of oil paintings and works on paper.
