The exhibition
The images you construct are all recomposed as a result of these wanderings you mentioned. What defines them?
A kind of daydream. At the beginning, I was very moved-in a melancholic way-by this utopian impulse of modernism that was caught up with reality in the post-war reconstruction, the new cities. This form of ideal, of search for clarity and spirituality, confronted with the most ordinary everyday life. These motifs were also a pretext for playing with questions of planes, light, and sharp, clean cuts that enter into dialogue with the vegetation. This experience was combined with my childhood in the South. Because there is also a meteorological, climatic dimension to all this: the fact that there is this mistral wind that strips everything away and ends up cleaning up everything that would be anecdotal. It's the mistral that clears the sky, which then becomes a big blue flat. It's the mistral that makes the lights hard and the shadows sharp in summer... The light and the wind shape the landscape.
