After Surgissements in 2021, the Dutko Gallery presents a second solo exhibition of Christian Sorg. With some fifteen works produced since 2013, the painter shows that he is not finished with the exploration of the power and subtlety of color, as much as with a work of liberation of gesture. In the 1990s, a long stay in Spain marked for him the advent of a new pictorial calligraphy, which continues today. The rugged landscapes of the Teruel region inspire the chaos of forms that he likes to invoke to represent nature. His abstract work therefore draws heavily on the territories that are dear to him, from the lands of Aragon to those of Burgundy. In the same way, the prehistoric sites he visits awaken in Christian Sorg a desire to transpose onto the canvas "the strong presence of the works of early humanity, the fragility of the world, and the ephemeral brilliance of life.
