Miriam Cahn. Ma pensée sérielle.
The exhibition
The Palais de Tokyo celebrates a 73-year-old "emerging" artist in an almost organic display of rage and splendor. Feminist and anti-nuclear, Miriam Cahn does not paint the world but for the world, hitting it and saving it at the same time. A painter of the intimate, of a birth as well as of her little sister's suicide, Miriam Cahn's "I" always means "we". After denouncing the war in Lebanon and visiting Sarajevo during the war in Bosnia, she responds furiously to the war in Ukraine with Kriegsraum FRÜHLING 2022. Her "epidermal painting" - according to Emma Lavigne, who is taking on her latest curatorship at the Palais de Tokyo, along with Marta Dziewanska, curator at the Kunstmuseum in Bern - gushes forth in "a flow of images, offering a cyclical, serial and infinite narrative, constantly replayed."
