The exhibition

In 2006, the city of Ivry-sur-Seine collaborated with Claire-Jeanne Jézéquel in the framework of the Bourse d'Art Monumental. This commission gave birth to her only incursion to date into the public space, "Balcony (for a long time to look)". In contrast to the monumental, the sculpture placed on the banks of the Seine aims to highlight its surroundings. Its layers of cast aluminum metal invite contemplation of the urban and aquatic landscape in which it takes place.
This year, the artist joins the Val-de-Marne municipality again for an exhibition that dialogues with the fruit of their previous cooperation. "Atmospheric Variable" debates the relationship of the artist and her work to the urban sphere. As a manifesto, the artist transfigures a road sign into an art object, covering it with moving surfaces of colored ink. Above all, the staging is dominated by two large installations mixing drawing and sculpture, which deal with water and its changing states within the territory. From the imprint left by a puddle to the stagnation of liquid in the interstices of the asphalt, Claire-Jeanne Jézéquel explores a question that runs through all her work: that of materials and their displacement in space.
