The exhibition

How can one be Norwegian? Coming from the distant icy confines of Europe, Munch is no longer considered a marginal and tormented artist who hesitates between symbolism and expressionism. In the 21st century, he has become the equal of two of his magnificent contemporaries, Van Gogh - from whom he froze the Starry Nights - or Matisse - from whom he borrowed his model Eva Mudocci, his violent colors and his trembling transparencies.
