The exhibition

At the heart of the scenes captured by Gustave Caillebotte's canvases, the flowery alleys quiver in a summer wind, the Parisian streets come alive in the pouring rain, the boats sail peacefully. At the Fondation Gianadda, museums and private collectors have agreed to share their paintings of the elusive, brought together for a new exhibition, from the gardens of Yerres to the banks of the Seine. [...] He combines light effects and modernity, creating a dialogue between shadows and reflections in photographic frames. This relationship with the eighth art, which mixes inspiration and rivalry, sees Caillebotte thematise vision by introducing into his paintings the dimension of the off-screen and transforming his motifs into overhead views.
