Born in Hindelang (Germany), Hubertus von Amelunxen divides his time between Northern Germany, Berlin and France. He co-organized with Timm Starl the first major European exhibition on William Henry Fox Talbot, which toured from the National Gallery in Berlin to Vienna, Lausanne, Antwerp and Paris, and was general director of the Ecole Européenne Supérieure de l'Image (Angoulême-Poitiers) from 2005 to 2009.
