Caroline le Méhauté is a visual artist who creates poetic works that question our relationship with the world. Her sculptures, installations and videos, as well as her sound work, encourage us to take a broader look at the world. She uses raw, natural materials, with a particular preference for peat. Her work engages the viewer in a reflective and physical process, in which the work first addresses the viewer's senses. Questioning man's relationship with his environment, her works also illustrate a relationship with space, established by the dialogue between her installations and the space that hosts them, inscribing a state of dialogue and ‘negotiation’, a term she has used since her early days at art school, and which evokes both the challenges facing the artist, and an attitude to adopt in life.
