Dominique De Beir is a visual artist, painter and installation designer, professor at the École supérieure d'art et design Le Havre-Rouen (ESADHaR) and co-founder of the publishing house Friville Éditions.
It is from the learning of Braille in 1994 that Dominique De Beir creates and develops the practice of perforations that will characterize her work. What is very present in my work," she says, still claiming to be a painter, "is the relationship to animations, to surface reliefs that give the desire to touch. The blind are perhaps able to perceive something through this granulated that I myself do not see. And it is also a way of returning to the origins of my work which really began with the learning of Braille.
