Séra
1961 (Phnom Penh (Cambodge))
Living in : Paris
Working in : Paris
We can identify two modes of gaze in Séra: one that favors fictional testimonies through his practice of comics and the other that shows the impossibility of mourning through metaphorical painting. In his three albums dedicated to the Cambodian genocide, he offers different fictional or authentic stories, like so many shattered destinies that the Khmer Rouge totalitarian machine crushed. Based on snippets of testimonies and his personal experience, he alternately shows the loss of bearings and the failure of a common memory.
