"In the 80's, my painting was quite cheerful, violent, very pre-adolescent... It was a kind of front, a kind of fortress where everything was made fun of. My sensitivity was there, but things were more or less hidden under a form of humor, which is still there by the way! But I couldn't be satisfied with that. I needed a more dramatic aspect which started to develop especially in what I call satellites: styles in the style like for example the use of coulures"
