The man of the theater was also a painter, sensitive to developments in Western European painting and a supporter of new experiments. During the 1960s, Kantor exhibited abroad, especially in Paris. His paintings were initially figurative - representations of grotesque and schematized figures - and then they took on a metaphorical dimension and were composed of spots. He also devoted himself to the creation of relief paintings, made of damaged and worn objects.
