Nicolas Poussin

"Drawing predominates in Poussin's painting: the precision of the outlines allows for a clear structure of the composition, isolating each of the figures and emphasizing the lines of perspective. Color is itself mimetic: it contributes, in the same way as drawing, to giving a "controlled" and rational representation of the world."
