Claude Monet
1840 (Paris) / 1926 (Giverny)
Together with Manet, Pisarro and Cezanne, he was one of the members of the Impressionist movement, a movement that radicalised painting in France in the second half of the 19th century, both in terms of aesthetics and methodological approach. Claude Monet gave this movement its name with his painting "Impression Soleil Levant". The scenes he painted depicted the social situations and passions of his characters, a way for him to describe the reality of everyday life.
