Frédérique Lucien's practice is a difficult one. Difficult in its pictorial proposal and in its path because Frédérique Lucien starts from a real object, a flower, a stem, a follicle and, having looked at it, drawn it, observed it, she produces a drawing or a painting which is neither stem, nor flower, nor follicle, but which is drawing and painting, going deep into the matter of things in order to turn away from it and to be nothing but drawing and painting, in order to enter into the matter of the drawing or the painting.
