As the event approaches, France is savouring the renewed vigour of its cherished fourth-place ranking in the global art market. There is no need to emphasise the role played by the Paris art fair in this. Whether it is a sister event or a rival to other international fairs is no longer the issue. Artists from all five continents are flocking to the event, and their contributions cement its status as an unmissable fixture in the art calendar year on year. Once again, leading galleries are in attendance. These include Templon, Mennour, David Zwirner and Thaddaeus Ropac, amongst others, whilst also welcoming notable new voices to their ranks: Petrine (Düsseldorf, Paris) and The Pill (Istanbul, Paris).

This year stands out for a record number of joint presentations on the stands: there are twelve in total. As pillars of Parisian identity, the major galleries are pursuing a common strategy here, prioritising a space for experimentation over a mere commercial showcase.
