Paysage. Fenêtre sur la nature.
The exhibition
In this monumental and thought-provoking exhibition, the Louvre-Lens explores the landscape through the eyes of painters, essentially from the origin of the world to contemporary art. With more than 170 works, the exhibition crosses the four seasons, from the southern hemisphere to the north. We go from a View of the Santa Chiara Canal in Venice immortalized by Canaletto in 1730 to the Japanese province of Kai to admire Hokusai's Dawn at Isawa, we contemplate The Rocks of Belle-Île, the Wild Coast painted by Monet in 1886 or Joan Mitchell's Fields (1990), from the view offered by his house in Vétheuil. Here, everything begins with the big bang, in a film installation designed by the artist Laurent Pernot - just like the exhibition's scenography in the form of an immersive experience.
