This artist is one of the last living historical representatives of the New Realists movement, launched in Paris in 1960 by the art critic Pierre Restany. Villeglé found, at the end of the 1940s, an unprecedented way of producing paintings, without brushes or tubes of color: his practice consists in tearing down, in the street, large posters, themselves lacerated by anonymous passers-by, and then exposing them as pieces of reality.
