If it provoked the ire of certain elected officials of the Caribbean island who would have liked to receive it in a public institution, the arrival at the Clément Foundation in Martinique of the contemporary part of the exhibition linked to the restitution to Benin by France of 26 of its royal treasures – after Cotonou then a stop at the Mohammed VI museum in Rabat – opens a new chapter in the relations which bind populations on both sides of the Atlantic, between memory of a painful history of trafficking and cultural openness.
