Édition Limitée. Vollard, Petiet et l’estampe de maîtres
The exhibition
Renowned for his flair for painting, Ambroise Vollard knew how to recognize the genius of Matisse, Cézanne and Gauguin. In 1901, his gallery was the first to open its doors in Paris to the young Picasso. It is to another of his activities, the publishing of engravings and illustrated books, that the Petit Palais devotes its exhibition. For contrary to what legend suggests, Vollard was perhaps even more passionate about paper than he was about painting.
